Vijay Kurle files Intervention Application (IA) in Contempt Petition against Prashant Bhushan At Supreme Court

DELHI: Adv. Vijay Kurle today filed an IA in the Supreme Court seeking his impleadment, in the contempt proceedings against Sr. Adv. Prashant Bhushan. Kurle pleads in his IA that Bhushan who had earlier filed an interim application misinterpreted & incorrectly placed reliance as to the ruling convicting Kurle, which is under challenge before the Supreme Court. Bhushan in his interim application in a way tried to justify the incorrect procedure adopted by Justice Rohinton Nariman’s bench in assuming jurisdiction, where there existed none.

To rewind facts, Adv. Vijay Kurle had made a complaint to the Hon’ble President of India & the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India as to the illegalities committed by Justice Nariman and sought an In-House inquiry procedure against him. Against the pending complaint, Justice Nariman on his own assumed jurisdiction and initiated criminal contempt proceedings against Adv. Kurle – shocking the legal fraternity, since ‘the accused and the judge rolled into one’.

Vijay Kurle apprehending misuse of a per-incuriam judgment against him by Prashant Bhushan sought his intervention in the Criminal Contempt Petition of Bhushan.
