Pakistan has only 3,844 ventilators, National Command and Operation. India Have 40000 Ventilators
Pakistan’s National Command and Operation Center revealed on Monday that the country only had 3,844 ventilators and 20 labs capable of conducting COVID-19 tests.
Out of these, the authority said 1,697 ventilators were in Punjab, 1,550 in Sindh, 400 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 74 in Baluchistan, 47 in Islamabad Capital Territory and 13 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
As Punjab reported 39 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, a fresh report submitted in the Supreme Court stated that only 130 ventilators are in working condition in District Headquarters (DHQ) hospitals across the province.
Punjab, Pakistan’s highest populated province, is the most affected region in the country with nearly 2,500 coronavirus cases and more than 20 deaths.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has submitted its report to the Supreme Court in a suo motu notice case over the coronavirus pandemic, which has infected over 5,000 people across Pakistan and left more than 90 dead.
In its report, the KP government said there were only 55 ventilators in the province’s district headquarters (DHQ) hospitals but recommended the number be increased up to 150.
A senior sindh government official said that as per a recent study conducted by the health authorities there were total 1,184 functional ventilators available in the public sector teaching and district hospitals of the province. Of these, 430 were in working condition in the teaching hospitals of Lahore, while 755 were in the hospitals of other cities of Punjab, he added.
Similarly, he said, out of the total 425 ventilators in private sector, 116 were working in Lahore’s hospitals, while others in the rest of the province.
