ARAI is a co-operative industrial research association established by the automotive industry with the Ministry of Industries, Government of India. ARAI is the nodal center for research and development in the automotive field. The main activities of the ARAI are: - Carry out sponsored Research & Development projects for the industry / Government of India / national and international agencies. Certification of vehicles and components as a notified agency as per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules. Formulation of automotive standards. Participation in national and international forit in the automotive technology and related fields. Carry out own Research Projects in automotive technology. 2 Powers and duties of officers and employees. The powers of ARAI officials are well defined at all levels in the organization. The duties are assigned from time to time. 3 Procedure followed in the decision making process. Organizational structure is placed at Annexure I 4 Norms set by organization for the discharge of its functions. In our pursuit towards advancement of Automotive Technology and providing quality service to Auto Industry, we are committed to provide research & development, testing, certification and calibration support for developing safe, reliable and eco-friendly vehicles / components. harmonise Indian automotive standards to global standards. strive for customer satisfaction through continual improvement of our processes. 5 Rules, Regulations, Instructions, Manuals and Records held by organization or under its control or used by its employees for discharging its functions. ARAI has formulated the rules for conduct of business in the organization. Major guiding documents are listed below: Article of Association and Memorandum of Association. Personnel Policy. Purchase Policy. 6 Statement of the categories of documents that are held by it or under its control. The organization holds the commercial and technical documents regarding the business operations of the organization. 7 Particulars of any arrangement that exists for consultation with, or reorientation by, the members of public in relation to formulation of its policy or implementation thereof. Not Applicable. 8 Statement of boards, councils, committees and other bodies consisting of two or more persons constituted as its part or for the purpose of its advice, and as to whether meetings of those boards, councils, committees and other bodies are open to the public, or the minutes of such meetings are accessible for public. Constitution of Governing Council Annexure II ARAI has also constituted a number of committees to oversee the operations and provide directions/ guidelines. Meetings of these committees are neither open to public nor the minutes are accessible to public.
