Thane :Our Reporter has observed 2 huge irregularities at Thane Civil Hospital which signals huge scam . Every new patient has to register new case paper by paying Rs5 as registration fee. This case paper is valid for 7 days after paying Rs5 as registration fees. After 7 days patients has to pay renewal fees Rs5 for next 7 days. In the renewal counter clerk is putting date stamp on each old case paper by taking Rs5. As their is no board of fees, validity period of case paper in counter , so after 1 day after registration peoples are paying Rs 5 within 7 days of validity.The clerk taking money is not making entry in register and he is also not giving receipt of Rs5 to any patient. This Rs 5 is unaccounted in clerk pocket. Every day about 500 people pay renewal fees but the staff say only 80-100 pay renewal fees . So staff are getting more than Rs2000 every day as bribe. In Sion Hospital there is receipt of renewal fees.
The medicine counter clerk is also doing scam. Their are two counters in Thane civil hospital for male and female. The compounder are seeing the prescription and giving the medicine to patients. He don't update the register that what quantity is given to patients and some time he only register the registration number of patients. It means they are doing scam by showing more quantity by distributing less quantity. In the off hours they update the register with frivolous quantity of distribution without signature of patients. Their is also no record of patient address, contact number after which patients can be called for verification. If doctors are issuing medicine for 5 days then they show the distribution of 10-15 days. All the top management including civil surge may be involved in scam. The rate list board is under construction since last 5 years. They are also unable to paste computer printout in last 5 years. Additional civil surgeon Dr AG Kamble said he joined recently in this post and earlier Dr Rathod was the in charge. Dr Kamble said that he is the Doctor of ENT and this matter will be resolve soon. But he was unable to say that how they manage audit by keeping frivolous record? Or the auditor can also be manageable?
