तमिलनाडु में सुपरहिट साबित हुई 'अम्मा की रसोई' की तर्ज पर अब साउथ एमसीडी दिल्ली में भी कम्यूनिटी किचन खोलने की तैयारी कर रही है। यहां गरीब तबके के लोगों को बेहद कम दामों में सुबह का नाश्ता और दोपहर व रात का खाना मिल सकेगा। खास बात यह है कि इस कम्यूनिटी किचन को संभालने का जिम्मा पूरी तरह से महिलाओं के कंधों पर रहेगा। यहां पर खाने के दाम दिल्ली सरकार की जन आहार योजना के तहत चलने वाली वैनों पर मिलने वाले खाने के दामों से भी कम होंगे।
साउथ एमसीडी की स्टैंडिंग कमिटी के चेयरमैन और बीजेपी के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष सतीश उपाध्याय ने बताया कि पिछले बजट में निगम ने इस योजना को शुरू करने के लिए वर्तमान वित्तीय वर्ष के तहत एक करोड़ रुपये और अगले वित्तीय वर्ष के लिए 5 करोड़ रुपये सेंक्शन किए थे। कम्यूनिटी किचन को चलाने का जिम्मा महिलाओं के सेल्फ हेल्प ग्रुप्स को सौंपा जाएगा, जिससे महिला सशक्तिकरण को भी बढ़ावा मिलेगा।
इस किचन में 5-6 रुपये में ब्रेकफ़स्ट और 10-11 रुपये में खाना मिल सकेगा। अलग-अलग इलाकों में कुछ बड़े हॉल लेकर वहां ये किचन चलाए जाएंगे, ताकि एकसाथ हजार पांच सौ लोग भी आ जाएं, तो वे आराम से वहां बैठकर खाना खा सकें। कम्यूनिटी किचन में खाना डिस्पोजेबल प्लेटों में नहीं परोसा जाएगा। यहां बाकायदा थाली, कटोरी, ग्लास, चम्मच आदि की व्यवस्था की जाएगी और थाली में ही खाना परोसा जाएगा। बर्तन साफ करने के लिए भी अलग से इंतजाम किया जाएगा। सातों दिन और दोनों समय अलग-अलग तरह का खाना परोसा जाएगा।

उपाध्याय के मुताबिक, शुरुआत में पायलट प्रॉजेक्ट के तौर पर साउथ एमसीडी के चारों जोनों में इस तरह का एक-एक किचन खोलने की योजना है। उसके बाद हर वॉर्ड में कम से कम एक कम्यूनिटी किचन खोला जाएगा। साउथ एमसीडी के साथ-साथ नॉर्थ और ईस्ट एमसीडी भी इसी तरह के कम्यूनिटी किचन अपने-अपने इलाकों में शुरू करेंगे। उपाध्याय ने बताया कि उन्होंने निगम के अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिया है कि वे इस संबंध में एक प्रस्ताव बनाकर स्टैंडिंग कमिटी में लेकर आएं, ताकि कमिटी और सदन उसे जल्द से जल्द पास कर सके और इस योजना को अमली जामा पहनाया जा सके।

Chandigarh gets a taste of Rs 1 idli-Sambar
CHENNAI: The city corporation seems to be leaving no stone unturned in its effort to market the popular Amma canteen scheme. Every team of visiting officials, the civic body's officials ensure, is shown around at least one of the subsidized canteens.
The visitors, from across the country or even abroad, may have come to study the style of functioning of the city administration but get to see one of the facilities where one can have an idli for 1 and a plate of pongal for 3 at breakfast.
On Monday, a 25-member Chandigarh corporation team, led by mayor H C Kalyan and including councillors and civic officials, got to taste the fare at the canteens. "We came here to study the functioning of the corporation but officials told us about Amma canteens and we visited one at the Government General Hospital," said Kalyan. Asked if he planned to replicate the model in Chandigarh, he said, "It's a good plan and a great initiative by Tamil Nadu chief minister."

A corporation official said the visitors were impressed with quality of food served at affordable prices. "They wanted to know how rice, vegetables and water for the canteens were sourced and also enquired about the workers' working hours and wages."
Chandigarh joint commissioner Rajiv Gupta said they were not aware about the canteens until they arrived here. "Our visit was part of an exchange programme to study various governance models. The canteen we visited was hygienic and the food tasted good," he said.
Several others have already been 'smitten' by the Amma canteen model. While a delegation for Egypt visited the canteen at GH to study the logistics involved, representatives of civic bodies in Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai and New Delhi have already expressed a desire to implement the scheme in those cities. Andhra Pradesh civil supplies minister Paritala Sunita had said similar canteens would be set up in that state to sell meals at 5.
Corporation officials said they had begun identifying spaces to set up an additional 200 canteens in the city that now has 200. Apart from breakfast, one can have a plate of curd rice for 3 and sambar rice, lemon rice and curry leaves rice at 5 a plate for lunch at these canteens. For dinner, two rotis and dal can be had for s3. Members of self-help groups cook, serve and manage the canteens that are patronized daily by thousands of people.
The popularity of the canteens launched in Chennai in February 2012 and later extended to the rest of the state is thought to be one of the main reasons for the AIADMK's big victory in the recent parliamentary elections.
